Kate joined Wallmans Lawyers in 2010 as a practitioner in the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution section specialising in Local Government litigation.
Kate primarily assists in providing specialist advice and representation to the Local Government Association Mutual Liability Scheme (LGAMLS) regarding public liability and professional indemnity claims concerning South Australian Councils and Local Government entities.
With a significant insurance law background, Kate has solid expertise in acting for major insurance companies in the defence of claims regarding professional indemnity and disciplinary matters, public liability, personal injury and defamation. Her experience extends across a range of industries including professional services, building and construction, property and real estate and finance. Additionally, Kate has experience in coronial inquests, class actions and recovery actions against insureds.
Kate enjoys working closely with clients to reach commercially realistic outcomes. Kate is admitted in the Magistrates, District, Supreme and High Courts and is experienced with court procedures as well as instructing Counsel at trails and coronial inquests. Where possible, Kate employs a range of alternative dispute resolution methods to reduce delays and optimise successful and practical outcomes.
Kate has degrees in Law and International Studies and is currently studying towards a Graduate Diploma in Psychology. She has a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training and is the deputy coordinator of the Civil Litigation course for the Law Society Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. Kate's previous legal experience includes practising in the Insurance arm of a premier law firm and also acting in personal injury matters for a National legal practice. Prior to working as a solicitor, Kate worked for an established insurance company handling major and interstate compulsory third party claims.
