Natasha is a specialist adviser in the firm's leading Local Government practice. Natasha's breadth of experience, coupled with her strategic approach, has seen her advising councils across the State on a variety of legal issues, ultimately ensuring the fulfilment of corporate objectives, whilst achieving legislative compliance.
Councils and other local government entities use Natasha's skills on all matters of governance including, but not limited to; conducting legislative compliance audits, conflict of interest, elected member and employee codes of conduct, meeting procedures, and relevant public consultation requirements. She also assists councils with freedom of information requests, internal and external reviews, has represented councils in major litigation with respect to valuation disputes and recovery of rates, and advises in relation to records management practices and compliance with the State Records Act.
Active in the sector, Natasha contributes regularly to local government publications including the 'Rate Administrator' and works collaboratively with the Local Government Association and the Local Government Managers Association, including with their Emerging Leaders Program. As a result, Natasha is regularly invited to conduct training seminars and develop education programs for councils and industry bodies. Natasha's professional development programs have included training on elected member roles and responsibilities, freedom of information, responsibilities of members of council subsidiaries and committees, and public and elected member access to information.
Natasha's approach is to gain a personal, in-depth understanding of her clients' operations and organisational needs, and is committed to ensuring not only practical solutions, but also decisions that will withstand public scrutiny.
