Stephen is a specialist litigation lawyer with significant expertise in providing
mediation and dispute resolution services in general commercial matters,
construction disputes, regulatory matters, property, defamation, estate issues,
partnership disputes, employment matters, landlord and tenant disputes and inter/
intra company disputes.
As an accredited mediator, and with a practical understanding of other forms of
dispute resolution, Stephen aims for the minimisation of risk in all disputes.
Adopting a facilitative mediation model, Stephen works with parties to identify
the real issues in dispute and explore options that may give rise to a resolution
that is acceptable to all parties. The facilitative model promotes productive and
progressive negotiations, in a non-adversarial forum, where each party is asked
to address the issues underlying the dispute rather than adopting a simplistic
commercial and positional bargaining process.
Additionally, as a legal practitioner, with a broad commercial litigation practice,
Stephen acts for a range of corporate clients in disputes relating to trade practices
and competition, breaches of contract, copyright, debt recovery and insolvency,
retail and commercial leasing, franchise disputes and infrastructure issues.
Stephen acts for various local and interstate companies and clients, and in recent years, has represented an international client in a breach of contract claim against the State of South Australia. Active in his field, Stephen regularly presents to professional service and finance organisations on dispute and risk anagement.
Stephen has a Bachelors of Laws with Honours and was admitted to practice in 2001. Before joining Wallmans, Stephen practiced at a specialised boutique litigation practice where he gained invaluable litigation and alternative dispute
resolution experience.
